LEGO Star Wars at the Trafford Centre in Manchester Gives You an Excuse to Hop on a Plane

Star Wars and LEGO are no strangers to each other. The two big brands have collaborated so many times, that I have seen some toy stores offering more LEGO Star Wars sets than other collections.

If you’re in the area of Manchester, UK (or you’ve been looking for a reason to visit that part of the world – something you would not have to do if you were a fan of their football team, of course), then the current LEGO Star Wars exhibit that the Trafford Centre is as good a reason as any to buy plane tickets.

In cooperation with the Legoland Discovery Centre, which is within the premises as well, the mall has set up an exhibit recreating Episode I in LEGO. All 250,000 pieces of it. On top of that, there are more than 2,000 minifigs used in the display – definitely more than enough to keep anyone (from age 4 to 94) busy for hours on end.

From hills to desert plains to immense edifices to Stormtroopers – the display just might make LEGO fans – kids and AFOLs alike – go on overdrive. The exhibit is not all for looking, as there are some hands on experiences open to the visitors.

For only 8.10GBP per head, you too can have this experience till June 1, 2013. That’s not counting the airfare and everything else if you’re not from there, of course, so here are some images courtesy of The Huffington Post, who ran an exclusive on the exhibit.

If you like The Hobbit more than Star Wars, check out the first LEGO Hobbit sets. If you want something totally different but still LEGO-ish, how about wooden bricks?
