Lego + Prince of Persia = Awesome
There’s been a long history of movies based on video games sucking pretty hard. Street Fighter was horrible (both versions), Mario Brothers was spectacularly bad, and even James Bond: Goldeneye wasn’t that great. Wait, that last one was a video game based on a movie? Who knew?
Regardless, they’re going to try again with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, out later this year. Now I have no idea if the movie is going to be worth a damn, and frankly, I don’t really care. But what I do care about is the new series of Legos based on the movie, and now they’re available at Toys R Us.
When I was a kid, my favorite Lego toys were the ones based on castles and dragons, and these sets evoke the same feelings for me. Yes, they’re in the Middle East, but they still have that same sense of style. Plus, there are some really cool swords in the kits and a camel. Who wouldn’t want a camel made of Lego? You? Well then you, sir and/or madam are no friend of mine.
I figure this one is the first on my purchase list, just because it’s got the most pieces and looks like the biggest challenge. And if this is a hit, then who knows what else is next.
Also coming up from Lego: Harry Potter sets. More on that as it comes.
