Long Beach Comic Expo 2019 Explores Comics, Space, and of course, Cosplay!

Last weekend, Long Beach Comic Expo 2019 played host to a collection of all-new and fan-favorite comic creators, cosplayers and vendors from all over Southern California and beyond. Iconic comic creators like Ron Marz, Rick Leonardi, and Gerry Conway shared the room with popular cosplayers like Ivy Doomkitty and Darth Lexii, among dozens of others showing off their considerable talents.

Between panels discussing the origins of Captain Marvel (her movie is coming soon!) and getting work as a comic creator or voice over artist, the show featured a pop culture car show outside and its ever-popular Space Expo inside, which exposed fans young and old to the adventures of NASA missions past, present, and future. Some of the characters from the upcoming Laika stop-motion animated film “Missing Link” even made an appearance and posed for pictures with attendees.

And at the end of Saturday night, once the main floor closed, Long Beach Comic Expo held their annual cosplay contest in a packed room full of talented costumers, all competing for prizes, including a top of the line sewing machine that was guaranteed to take anyone’s cosplay to the next level. The big winner that night was a young man dressed as an unsettlingly disturbing and very animated Pennywise from Stephen King’s “It”.

Speaking of cosplay, here’s a selection of some of our favorite costumes from the event (as if we’d forget to include our top picks).

The next Long Beach show is Long Beach Comic-Con 2019 August 30th and September 1st. Hopefully we’ll see you there!
