Nintendo's 3DS XL
In the middle of the night last night, Nintendo announced a new, extra large edition of its 3DS console. Here’s what the 3DS XL looks like.
The 3DS XL boasts an enlarged top screen that’s almost twice the size of the 3DS’, along with a larger lower screen as well. The 3DS XL will ship bundled with a 4GB SD card, and will come in either red or blue. When it arrives in North America on August 19, it will cost $199.99. Releasing the same day: New Super Mario Bros. 2.
Below you’ll see a full gallery of official Nintendo images of the 3DS XL. But there’s an elephant in the room in these photos. Do you see it? Late last year, Nintendo discovered that a number of 3DS games were better suited for a device with two thumbsticks, so they created an ugly peripheral that added a second stick to the handheld console. So when they decided to create a larger edition of the 3DS, instead of learning from that prior experience, they… created another 3DS with just one thumbstick.
What are they thinking?
