Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, also known as My Little Sister Can’t be This Cute, but often shortened to “Oreimo” is finishing off its second season with a bang this summer. If you aren’t familiar with Oreimo, it’s about a high schooler named Kyousuke who has to put up with Kirino, his obnoxious little sister. One day Kirino reveals her secret hobby as a “little sister” otaku and asks Kyousuke to help her make like-minded friends. This sparks a series of events that brings these once distant siblings much closer.
The second season finished its 13th and last episode for the spring 2013 anime season this week, but the series still isn’t over. Oreimo season 2 will continue up to 16 episodes, but episodes 14-16 won’t be airing in the regular time slot. Instead, the official Oreimo website has announced that the final episodes of the season will be simulcast worldwide on August 18, 2013.
It might be torture to some to have to wait a month and a half to see the series’ conclusion, but delays like this typically mean that the final episodes will have better production values. What’s also interesting about this delay is that the producers have made it so people around the world can watch the final episodes at the same time. The anime’s website lists a number of different sources where people from different countries can view the anime on August 18.
Of course, if you can’t wait until August 18 to see the final episodes of Oreimo season 2, there are two chances to see it before then. This year’s Otakon, which takes place August 9-11 will host the world premiere of episodes 14-16. If you can’t make it to Otakon, then there is another chance to see it in Chiba City, the place where Oreimo takes place. The venue will be at the Chiba City Civic Great Hall and will take place on August 17. In order to participate, you will need to enter your name into a lottery and hope that you get picked.
