PlayStation All-Stars to Battle Each Other

I’ve never gotten into fighting games. I get the appeal, it’s just not for me. I like some story meat on my games’ bones. But to each his own.
For those who love a good brawl, Sony is prepping a scratch for that itch, starring many of your favorite PlayStation game characters.
In development from SuperBot Entertainment, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has been rumored for a while now, thanks to a less-than-stealthy domain name registered by Sony. The game pits four players against one another, playing as popular PlayStation game characters like Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Parappa, Fat Princess, Colonel Radec, Sly Cooper, and loads more that are yet to be revealed. SuperBot says that the characters selected for the fighting game come from both Sony’s own catalog of proprietary characters as well as several of the most popular third-party game characters. Even the game’s battleground environments and music come from popular PlayStation games, but All-Stars mashes these elements up in creative ways.

Numerous modes of play will ship with the game, including local four-player versus matches, team battles, practice modes, and online team-ups with friends. Single-player modes include Combat Trials, a sort of tutorial mode where you learn and perfect your fighting skills; and Arcade, which offers a fixed level of progression. Online, players will have access to Tournament mode, where players are matched online to gain experience and rewards; Special Event Battles, where match parameters will be switched up daily, with experience points gained by the most versatile players and then shown on an overall leaderboard; and Custom Matches, where players set their own rules.
Sony and SuperBot are framing this as a “celebration” of PlayStation’s best games and characters, all brought together in a single title. No release date has been announced yet, but both companies are promising to show off a lot more of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale at E3 in early June.
