SDCC 2014: Comic-Con Friday/Saturday Wrap Up

Once in Hall H, from start to finish, the panelists blew the roof off the dump. The show started with Warner Bros/DC giving us a quick peek at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and had Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot wave from the stage. Director George Miller made his first appearance at Comic-Con to show off a stunning reboot of Mad Max. Sir Ben Kingsley joined the cast of Box Trolls for his first time at Comic-Con as well. Stephen Colbert moderated the Hobbit panel in costume from his bit role in the film as the leader of the Laketown spy network. Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez brought out Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, and Jessica Alba to show off footage from Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Guillermo Del Toro shared his return to gothic horror with Crimson Peak. The women of Sons of Anarchy, American Horror Story, Orphan Black, Sleepy Hollow, and Game of Thrones filled out the funny and thoughtful Entertainment Weekly “Women Who Kick Ass” panel. And, of course, Marvel finished off the day’s programming with our first look at Ant-Man, featuring new director Peyton Reed, and stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas. They followed up with our first senses-shattering look at Avengers: Age of Ultron along with the entire cast (minus a pregnant Scarlett Johansson). And they finished the entire day off with a video clip of director James Gunn and star Chris Pratt announcing the release date of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (7/28/2017).
