Segway Recalls All 23,500 Scooters

By Dave

If you have a Segway, you need to bring it in to have its software updated. No, it is not because of exploding batteries, like every other battery powered device, it is because it will tip you onto your face if the software bugs out on you.

So all 23,500 Segway units sold between March 2002 until now, including all i167, i170, i189, p133, XT, GT, and i2 models need to be brought into a local service center to be updated.

Apparently the Human Transporter “can unexpectedly apply reverse torque to the wheels,” as in, go in reverse while the rider is leaning forward, leaving your face heading quickly towards the unforgiving ground.
