It looks like the search for extra-terrestrial life will be just one of many projects in a merged project called BOINC. I really liked that SETI was around, but I guess harnessing computer power for “more important” things is good too…

Distributed computing experiment [email protected] will be switched off on December 15 as it becomes part of the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC).

BOINC has been developed at UC Berkeley as a framework for volunteer computing projects like [email protected]
