So... what's Call of Duty: Black Ops?
Activision released a new trailer over the weekend, along with the initial announcement of, its latest game in the Call of Duty franchise. While the creators of Call of Duty, Infinity Ward, have been going through some serious inner turmoil lately, Activision’s secondary go-to studio for CoD games, Treyarch, has been working on this new entry. Treyarch is remembered as the studio behind the sequels Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, and the more recent Call of Duty: World at War.
Effectively Call of Duty 7, the game’s actual title is Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Activision is remaining tight-lipped for the moment when it comes to details. But based on the trailer, it looks like it might involve gameplay set during the Vietnam War, as well as a few other 20th Century battlefields. There’s also what looks like some kind of modern day element, wherein the main character is subjected to chemically-induced memory enhancements to help him remember something about his involvement in those past conflicts.
The trailer’s pretty enticing. The game drops November 9th. See for yourself:
