Star Trek Game Shows Off Redesigned Gorn

Digital Extremes’ Star Trek game has been a long time coming, but it’ll finally be in stores early next year. Watch Kirk and Spock rumble with a hungry, monstrous Gorn in the new Gamescom trailer.
How about that Gorn, huh? Reminds me of something, some TV or movie monster, but I can’t put my finger on it. What does it make you think of?
The new game — which is still un-subtitled — couldn’t ask for better timing. J.J. Abrams’ sequel to his blockbuster reboot is due in theaters next Summer, putting this game on the board just in time to bridge the gap between the two movies — which is exactly what it’s designed to do. The game tells an all new tale that’s kicked off when Kirk and Spock take the Enterprise to “New Vulcan,” where they discover a mysterious piece of technology that has the power to save or destroy all life in the galaxy. Soon they will discover that the Gorn are involved in this plot, having decided to take over the galaxy.
Actors Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are lending their voices to the third-person game, which should give the title a good sense of continuity, while God of War‘s Marianne Krawczyk wrote the script. Kirk and Spock are both playable characters, each with his own style that changes the dynamics of how you play.
The new Star Trek game will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
