Steve Jobs on DRM: get rid of it
Apple’s CEO has recently wrote a letter regarding DRM, and what would be the best options for the future. Apparently, he defends the sale of non-DRM’ed music, why?
“The simplest answer is because DRMs haven’t worked, and may never work, to halt music piracy.”
I agree completely. When tapes were in use, no one seemed to bother much about who or how music was being distributed, at least not as much as it is today. If all music was distributed DRM free, piracy would continue, but the sales of music would most likely increase. Although I don’t think that will ever happen in the future, not in my lifetime at least.
