Superbad (2007) - Review
Superbad, on the other hand, fits right in.
Seth and Evan are co-dependent on one another. Essentially, there a couple – in a complete heterosexual way. They depend on one another – but life is changing. They’re about to graduate and go off to college. There lives are going to be forever altered and they don’t quite know how to deal with it.
Then there’s this party…and these hot girls…and cops…and well – McLovin’.
Dear Lord, I don’t envy the geeky dorks that are going to embrace the nickname McLovin’ after this movie hits home video and they all see it.
Superbad is a raunchy comedy with foul language that would almost make Kevin Smith blush – but there’s more to it than that. The real story of this movie is about that time in every dude’s life when things go from “bros before hoes” to “hoes before anything else”.
I don’t have a lot to say about this movie. I could recycle the plot for you, but there are some twists and turns in the story that I didn’t exactly expect – so I don’t see any reason to spoil them.
If you’ve ever missed that close nit group of friends you used to hang with in high school, then you’ll probably love this movie. If you’re in high school with this group of friends – this is going to happen to you. You might not get laid, and you might have quite the adventure Seth and Evan have – but eventually, you’ll be torn apart by women, time and just plain growing up.
On the surface – mainly because of all the dick jokes – there doesn’t seem to be that much to Superbad – but I think it’s actually a much deeper flicks. It’s not perfect..but I enjoyed the hell out of it.
