Thanksgiving Turkey Donut, Anyone?

A Thanksgiving Turkey Donut doesn’t sound too weird, does it? After all, we see specially decorated donuts all over the place – like this.
It’s like a regular sweet donut that looks like a turkey. Perfect Thanksgiving dessert or snack, yes?
But what if you had a Thanksgiving turkey donut that had turkey meat in it?
It’s not that hard to believe, given all the different crazes we’ve seen in the past years. (Remember cronuts?)
So yes, there is such a thing as a Thanksgiving Turkey Donut, which is actually called “The Outreachus Turkey”.
It’s a donut made by Corey Smale and Jason Bockman of “Strange Donuts“, a shop that sells, well, strange donuts such as “The Outreachus Turkey”.
The shop is based in St. Louis, so you might not get the chance to get a taste of this unusual Thanksgiving “treat”, but you can make your own, if you are so inclined. The owners and creators have shared the “simple” recipe:
- Start with a yeast-based, sweet potato donut.
- Inject it with a homemade cranberry, toasted walnut and pineapple jelly.
- Top it with sweet potato glaze, candied walnuts and smoked turkey.
Now how does that sound to you? It might just work as dessert for Thanksgiving dinner!
