2015 may have been a fantastic year for movies, but one would only be foolish not to say the same exact thing about television. Over the last decade TV has gone from a cool distraction to being one of the most entertaining mediums we have available to us. From shows like Jessica Jones and Making A Murderer from last year we learned, good shows come by the dozen now. It is almost to the point where there is TOO much good TV and it is hard to keep track of. Well, bad news. Here are 8 shows premiering in 2016 that we believe will be some of the best TV shows of 2016. Which means soon enough, you are going to have even MORE to catch up on.
Good luck with that.
Hey, how about we put Lucifer on modern Earth and have him run a really posh club so he can oversee man’s wrong doings in person? Based of the DC comics brand of same name, it may sound silly, but if they go the direction they did in the comic books, we will have a edgy little tale about life, death, and corruptible morals.
BUT, if it goes was of Constantine, don’t hang on to this one too long.
Honestly, we are equal parts scared and excited. We don’t care that the nationality of this family was changed from the film. Family is family, white, black, or blue. Our only concern is will they be able to catch both the darker aspects of the comedy while also keeping true to the good heart of the original?
Just have to cross our fingers and wait at this point. I am as scared as you are, but come on, it’s UNCLE BUCK!
Before I say anything at all about this Oz adaptation, I want to tell you who is directing it before you shrug it off. The man named Tarsem. He directed the most stunning movie of all time, visually, called The Fall. If you have not seen it, go see it right now and realize that we are about to get the most visually stunning interpretations of Oz we have ever seen, most likely even besting the original.
Yes, I just said that.
Luke Cage/ Iron Fist
These two Netflix adaptations of Marvel work get one slot for one simple reason. Was never a huge fan of either character as a comic collector. BUT, let it be known, felt the same about Jessica Jones and hers ended up being one of the better shows of the year.
So with that knowledge in mind, I hold out hope that the same gritty treatment will be given to these two and they will end up having a couple of the best TV shows of 2016.
Do I even need to say anything now? It’s the fucking X-Files. One of the greatest sci-fi and horror shows of all time. A show that made its two leads into stars, and a show that made a great many of us into UFO and supernatural freaks. Sidenote, also the show that clearly inspired the show Supernatural.
The main concern now is will this show be able to return to the charm and scares it had twenty plus years ago when original show ran? Again, we will just have to cross our fingers and hope.
“I WANT TO BELIEVE”, right?
Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman has a new show about demon possession. Um, obviously this one is gonna is going to be insane if it is anything like his past work.
Seriously, what else needs to be said?
Without a doubt, this is the single most exciting piece of TV to have come along in a long time. As a HUGE fan of the comic series (and knowing for a fact it is one of the most twisted and wonderful things ever written), if AMC does Preacher right and stays SOMEWHAT true to source material, we are talking about about what will be the BEST of the TV shows of 2016, hands down.
Long and short: Jesse is a priest who was born when an angel and a demon mistakenly hook up. This instills him with the power of, basically, a God. He then sets out on a mission to….
I won’t ruin it for you. Just trust me when I say, TV is about to be forever redefine. Cassidy and Arseface will change everything. Just you watch.
