The blackbox casemod

By Jim

Technabob posted something relevant for all netadmins and server engineers worldwide.  I think the concept is very urgent to catch and improve on.  I’ve had so many of my tech friends put their servers in a freight box, dutifully insulated from immediate harm but Technabob says… “what if there was a plane crash” and that server contained critical data that should reach its destination no matter what? (with or without you).

Well, yeah sure, you’d say there’s the web and all it takes is for one to login and download away.  True… to some extent.  Some data are just tooo important to put online.

This is a concept casemod that takes the inards of a linux server, slaps it in the blackbox casemod and viola! :)  You’ve got a plane-crash-proof PC.  (well, until you see that the PC ports are peeking behind it, and so goes the crash-proof idea).  But hey, I did say it’s a cool concept to improve!

Someone auctioned the black box at Ebay and someone by the name of “Brett” won the bid.  You can check more of Brett’s work here. Just in case you wanted to jump in and help Brett make it better.
