The Geeky Christmas Playlist
I don’t know about you, but I think being able to create playlists on the iPod (or any other music player) is the best thing since sliced bread. With the thousands and thousands of music scattered all over my iPod, I just can’t be bothered to keep shaking the darned thing to skip to the next song if I don’t feel like listening to what’s currently playing.
Normal people, in my opinion, have moods wherein they want to listen to certain kinds of songs, and being able to bunch those songs together in playlists is simply convenient. With Christmas coming up, you might be in the mood for tunes that don’t drive you nuts (like the ones they play at the mall and in cabs, as if on purpose to irritate you) but still somehow relate to the holidays.
If this is you, then you’ll have a blast listening to these songs, which you can put together in a geeky Christmas playlist. I think that even if you’re not the Christmassy type of person, you might still have fun with these songs.
The Geeky Christmas Playlist
Santa’s Beard by They Might Be Giants
TMBG was formed in 1982 and they have a couple of Grammys to their name. Conventional is the last word you’ll think of when describing the band, and their song Santa’s Beard is definitely NOT your run-of-the-mill Christmas song. If you want more of the band for the holidays, you might as well get Holidayland the EP. (TIP: Also has a Hannukah song)
The Man in the Santa Suit by Fountains of Wayne
Pop music they may make, but their tunes are catchy and funny. Of course, Santa could not escape these guys if he tried. There’s another song in the Fountains of Wayne arsenal that absolutely has to be in your geeky Christmas playlist: I Want an Alien for Christmas.” No need to explain; just watch the video below.
The Millennium Falcon for Christmas by John Anealio
If you can’t have an alien for Christmas, will the Millennium Falcon do instead? This guy is a genius who “performs geeky anthems for writers, librarians, lovers of Sci-Fi, Best Buy customers & robots. His music sounds like John Mayer, Weezer & James Taylor playing Dungeons & Dragons together on their iPhones.” Check it out and tell me you don’t want this song in your playlist. Christmas or not.

The Chipmunk Christmas Song
Christmas is not complete without Alvin and the Chipmunks, but I guess it’s not for everyone. I highly recommend getting the whole album for good measure, but if you can’t take that much, then this one song should be good enough.
The Elves’ Xmas Song – Futurama
I am not really into Futurama (sacrilege, some of you may say), but this is rather funny.
If you want more songs, simply get the albums I mentioned above, and you’ll be all set! Do you have additions to this geeky Christmas playlist?
