The Halo Movie We Deserve

So, yeah. A Halo movie. Pipe dream, right? When it comes to Hollywood, it sure seems that way. But the game’s legion of fans aren’t willing to sit around and wait for Hollywood to get in the game. Gamer Philip Kang (no relation to the Conqueror or the Klingon) created this incredible, 22-minute epic using nothing but Halo 3‘s in-game editor.
Halo: Eye of the Storm is the name of Kang’s creation, and it imagines the fifth level of Halo 3, “The Storm,” as a blockbuster movie. With his short film, Kang has single-handedly shows Hollywood why a Halo movie would be awesome. According to Joystiq, it took Kang over two years to create, because he had to keep playing “The Storm” level over and over to get the game’s AI to “perform” properly for the shots he wanted. All told, he played the level more than one hundred times.
That’s a lot more takes than most directors would require, but he wasn’t exactly working with trained thespians.
Don’t let Philip’s two years of work be in vain. Take 20 minutes out of your day to watch this. It’s worth it.
