The Ultimate Christmas Present

We all have that one person in our lives who’s just impossible to shop for. If you’re facing that eternal conundrum (what do you get for the person who has everything?), and money is no object… have I got the thing for you!

You’re looking at a real-life, actually-works, street-legal Tron Lightcycle, based on the cycles from Tron Legacy. One assumes that the trailing ribbon of energy is not included, but in every other way, this is as close to the real deal as you’ll ever get. And it’ll set you back a mere $55,000.

Made by Parker Brothers Custom Choppers in Florida, these Lightcycle replicas are made with a steel frame, fiberglass body, a Suzuki TLR1000 V-twin engine, and a custom-made friction drum for braking. And get this: for your speedometer, gas gauge, and other stats, you can get it with either standard motorcycle gauges or an iPad display.

The thing weighs 474 pounds, measures almost 8.5 feet and 2 feet wide. And as for riding it, you sort of lay forward on it, nearly completely horizontal, at almost 2 and a half feet off the ground. It maxes out at 120mph. (One of Parker Bros’ bikes has been used by Disney to promote the film at hands-on events like Comic-Con, and Playboy used one for its recent Tron-inspired shoot.)

Parker Bros’ website mentions that they’re also working on a “Negative Lightcycle” version for sometime in the future, which I assume means they’ll invert the color palette. In the meantime, you’d better act fast if you want one of the originals; only 10 of these bad boys were made, and 6 of them have already been sold.
