The Amazing Spider-Man #540 (Marvel) - Comic Review
I have mostly steered clear of Straczynski’s run on Amazing…(I think I’ve mentioned that before)…primarily because there is A LOT of stuff the man has done with the Spidey-verse that I don’t care for. From the organic webshooters, to Gwen Stacy banging Norman Osborn…it’s just been stuff that didn’t make me want to read his version of Spidey…but this “Back in Black” storyline is exceptional.
Straczynski is weaving a great revenge story plot, and I’m in hook, line and sinker. Peter is at the end of his rope, and it’s a great read. I’m not sure exactly how it’s going to end, but I love where it’s going.
Ron Garney is also doing an amazing job. His work on Spidey is his best stuff since his legendary run on Captain America with Mark Waid.
I love the black costume too. I can’t help it. I think it’s slightly forced the way Peter decided to put it back on, but MAN do I wish that was Spidey’s only costume. I just love it.
I recommend this book…I’d also recommend going back to #539 and getting in at the start of this story. It’s a great read.
