This Volkswagen Camper Sidecar Will Make You Envious

I have always been enamored by the looks of Volkswagen cars, in particular the old Beetle and the Volkswagen Camper. I do know that if I get a carin the near future, I will try to get my hands on the classic Beetle. The Camper, as much as I love the idea, is simply too clunky for someone who has parking problems like me.
This guy from the UK did an excellent job of making something out of a Volkswagen Camper – or something like it, rather. He rides a scooter and wanted to make a sidecar that would carry his 11-year-old son safely.
His solution? A custom-made Volkswagen Camper sidecar!
He could always have gone the easy route and gotten a sidecar off the shelves, but I guess he wanted something more. Armed with a welding machine, a Volkswagen Camper skin (which he got from Belgium), and whatever it is that one needs to create a sidecar for a scooter, Jay Dyer built what might very well be the only Volkswagen Camper sidecar in the world. It took him the better part of a year – seven months, to be exact – and 2,500 GBP to complete the Volkswagen Camper sidecar, but from the looks of it, the effort was well worth everything.

Today, he rides around with his son in the sidecar, to the delight of everyone – including people who see them. In fact, Dyer says that they get numerous requests to have pictures taken. I am not surprised at all. Oh, and he says he gets offers of up to 8,000 GBP for it!
