Top 9 Most Anticipated Wii U Games of 2015

For those who are closely following the Nintendo Wii U, it is no secret that the console has made an incredible comeback after a sluggish, uninteresting launch period. While fans have already been treated to some of Nintendo’s finest titles (including Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. U), we still have plenty of new games to look forward to and enjoy this year. Here are some of the most anticipated Wii U games of 2015.

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem

This tittle is a crossover between Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem, two hugely popular franchises that combine superb RPG and tactical fighting elements. Although Nintendo has not yet provided many details about this one, fans are expecting to get their hands on it toward the end of the year. Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem appeals primarily to a hardcore audience, giving the Wii U a much-needed breath of fresh air.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Kirby is a fun little oddball, and we don’t just mean that in the figurative sense.. This version allows players to control Kirby using the Wii U Gamepad, helping him roll around while avoiding various obstacles and helping him reach the goal. It requires agility, wit and constant management to stay alive, thus making this one of the most anticipated Wii U games of 2015.

Yoshi’s Woolly World

Yoshi has always had a special place in the hearts of veteran Nintendo fans, primarily thanks to classics like Yoshi’s World on the Super Nintendo. The creators of Kirby’s Epic Yarn are following a similar trend with this latest installment. You will use Yoshi to unravel and discover secrets and many new places, all while relying on the Wii U’s exclusive Gamepad features and the game’s yarn-based levels.

Mario Maker

Have you ever wanted to create your own Mario levels and share them with friends? After decades of merely guiding the infamous plumber, you will finally be able to control every aspect that surrounds him. Mario Maker enables players to add, remove and modify everything you have ever known about 2D Mario titles, allowing for some amazing, never-ending creativity. Expect to play plenty of user-created levels in this amazing gift that just keeps on giving.

Mario Party 10

If you’re familiar with typical board games like Monopoly, then you will feel at ease with Mario Party 10. What makes this party game so exciting is the new Bowser Mode, allowing you to control Mario’s nemesis on the Gamepad while other players try to finish the game against your wishes. Mario Party 10 should help bring family and friends together again as much as the original Nintendo Wii did several years ago.

Splatoon

Splatoon was perhaps Nintendo’s most unique revelation in years. Instead of showing off yet another known franchise, they are stepping out of their comfort zone by offering a third-person paintball shooter. Your job is to cover as much terrain as possible with the help of your friends in order to complete each level. Plenty of innovative features are in store, including the ability to submerge yourself into a pool of paint to ambush your enemies. Can you imagine how fun this is going to be with friends? Yeah, we can’t wait either.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

This is the sequel to 2011’s Xenoblade Chronicles, a critically acclaimed title that (unfortunately) many players did not discover due to arriving late in the Wii’s lifecycle. Needless to say, word of mouth helped this great game spread like wildfire, making both new and long-time fans increasingly anxious for this masterful role-playing title. Xenoblade Chronicles X promises intense battles, advanced in-game mechanics and vast worlds to explore.

Star Fox Wii U

Fans have been waiting for a worthy Star Fox sequel for many, many years now. Despite the release of various iterations over the past 15 years, such titles simply haven’t captured the magic of 1997’s Star Fox 64. Fans are eager to take Fox McCloud back into space for some fierce alien battles as opposed to performing menial on-foot exploration like most recent entries had offered.

Zelda Wii U

Although details are vague, fans are anxiously waiting for the newest entry in the Legend of Zelda series which is set to debut sometime this year. What we do know is that players will be able to explore a larger map than ever before, and beat each dungeon in any order you wish. This opens the doors to more creative gameplay as players can practically finish the game in any fashion they wish.

With indie titles and some rumored franchises making a potential comeback, what are your most anticipated Wii U games of 2015?

Speaking of new and classic franchises…
