There’s a new Assassin’s Creed game coming (and it’s a safe bet it’ll be out around Christmas of this year), and Ubisoft is teasing it on Facebook. Using a viral marketing campaign, users can choose to share news about this campaign with others, and once an unspecified target number of “shares” have been sent by users, Ubisoft will reveal the new game’s title.
Which is cool and all, but some crafty fans have already determined — by hunting through image directories on Ubisoft’s servers — that the new game is called Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. The game’s logo was found, which you can see at left. Sounds like a direct sequel to the storyline from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood to me, since that game ended on such a huge cliffhanger.
There’s a teaser video being used in the viral campaign (that’s it above), which doesn’t really show anything, just some glitchy looks at the Animus. Every now and then in the video, Arabic words are shown that translate to the full name of Altair, the Middle Eastern protagonist in the very first Assassin’s Creed game. Will the plot have something to do with Altair? Will Revelations feature Altair as the main character?
We should find out soon. By Saturday afternoon, Ubisoft said it was at 19% of their social sharing goal.
