What to Expect From Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart has come a long way since the first game came out in the 90’s on the Super Nintendo. Mario is one of the longest running game series in the video game industry. Mario Kart has made itself through over 20 years of successful games to it’s soon to be released title, “Mario Kart 8”.

The new game in the series is said to be released in spring of 2014 (Rumors are suggesting it will be released in April).

We know when it is going to be hitting the shelves but what can we expect from the game?

So far there are 12 playable characters on the line up for Mario Kart 8.

You will be able to choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Koopa Troopa, Toad, Toadette, Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong and Bowser. This is a decent line up and will most likely satisfy most of the people that will pick up the game this spring time.

The graphics in this game are going to provide the best visuals for this series yet. They will be in HD and will have a frame rate of 60 frames per second. To put it into perspective, most video games are shot at 30-40 frames per second so this is quite impressive. Plus, who doesn’t love playing video games in HD?

In-Game Features

The biggest and most exciting feature that will be coming into play is the Anti-Gravity. Basically what happens is your wheels turn horizontal and you will hover over the ground. You will find yourself racing on walls and upside down on the ceiling. It will really allow for an all new racing experience.

Mario Kart 8 will also include a lot of the favorite features from previous games in the series. Some of the features include hang gliders, underwater racing, customizable karts and motorcycles. Collecting coins also will return in this game. The extensive in-game features will surely make the racing fun and exciting.

As of right now it is a little unclear exactly how many tracks there will be. What is known is that there will be a number of new tracks in the game and then there will be what they are calling “Legacy Tracks”. Legacy tracks are courses from previous Mario Karts that are redesigned in HD.

Some of the re-done tracks include Dry Dry Desert, Piranha Plant Slide and Music Park/ Melody Motorway. These are not officially on the track list yet but they were spotted at the 2013 E3 event.

Note: There will not be a track editor in Mario Kart 8 (there is no clear reason why this is).

Game Modes
Nintendo claims that Mario Kart 8 is going to have the best collection of game modes out of all the other games in the series. Looking at some of the game play that has been revealed it seems that this will turn out to be true. Other than that, not much information has been given on game modes.

Online Play
Mario Kart 8 is going to have an online multiplayer mode of up to 12 players. You will be able to play with people from all around the world. There is also going to be a very deep integration of Miiverse with this new game.

All in all it seems that this will be the best Mario Kart game yet. With all the information available it looks like it is everything you loved in the past titles plus more.

There will be much more to come and be revealed for this latest game in the Mario Kart series. Keep your eyes open and look for Mario Kart 8 this spring!
