Windows XP SP3 Appears
The Hot Fix has recently announced a list of changes that you can expect from a still unofficial and unannounced SP3 for Windows XP.
All of the individual patches are official and you can download them from Microsoft’s site but they have been compiled into a single pack named Windows XP SP3 Preview Pack.
The release date for this Service Pack is “set” for after the release of the client version of Longhorn, whenever that happens.
I’m all for bug fixes, but if about a third of the problems mentioned on that list are solved and have official patches ready for download in Microsoft.com why can’t they just release them to the public over WindowsUpdate or under a cumulative pack? It doesn’t need to be an SP3? Then again… I guess they could use all the free advertisement.
