It was actually a bit strange to NOT have WonderCon Anaheim 2019 take place over Easter weekend, but that’s alright. Once again, the little sister to San Diego Comic-Con took over the convention center just blocks away from Disneyland for 3 action packed days. The show is always packed with top comic talent from around the world and compelling panels covering everything from the ins and outs of the comics industry to sneak peeks at upcoming films and TV series, but it’s also no surprise that it’s got some of the best cosplayers from around the country gathered in one place (see below).
Throughout the packed hall, people had to compete with me to get the best deals on old comics when they weren’t sitting in a panel for Freeform’s Cloak and Dagger series or FX’s Legion screening. But the big ticket this past weekend was the Shazam panel, starring Zachary Levi, who was in attendance and eager to meet the fans (Shazam hits theaters later this week!).
For those of you who find it’s impossible to get tickets to San Diego Comic-Con, WonderCon Anaheim is almost the next best thing. No, the city isn’t taken over by the convention, but it’s easier to get a ticket and a hotel room, especially if you’re coming from out of town. Plus, Disneyland is just down the street in case you need to get out of the comic-loving hordes and want to hang with the Disney geeks instead.
Here’s our obligatory collection of our favorite cosplay from this past weekend. If you were there, maybe you’ll see yourself. If so, let us know!
WonderCon Anaheim will return next year around the same time.
