Xbox 360 Price Drop Imminent?

Following close on the heels of yesterday’s announcement from Sony regarding a price drop for the PS3, Microsoft is set to announce today that it will drop the price of all three of its Xbox 360 models.

The Elite unit, currently priced at $479 will drop to $399, the Premium unit is set to drop from $399 to $349, and the Core unit will drop from its $299 price tag to $249.

This is a great move…it keeps the most expensive Xbox $100 cheaper than the cheapest PS3, and puts the cheaest Xbox competitively priced next to the Nintendo Wii. Granted, to make the 360 playable, you pretty much have to tack on the $129 hard drive, but seeing the Xbox and the Wii next to each other at the same price is sure to swing some potential buyers. And considering the huge spike that Sony saw yesterday after it dropped the price of the PS3, Microsoft could find itself back on top of the market.
