Filling the shoes of Han Solo would be a daunting task for anyone to try to do. He is one of the most beloved fictional characters ever created, and especially since we all know how his story plays out (Spoiler Alert, his son kills him) it puts even more pressure on the actor trying go fill Han Solo’s shoes. Seems they have finally settled on an actor for the role though.
His name is Alden Ehrenreich and he will be playing the space cowboy in the prequel movie that is going to give us a great deal more insight into the character himself, as well as Chewie, and how they came to be as close as they did. If you don’t know the name or face right off, that is kinda the point. Though he has starred in some gems (Stoker) the fact few know him makes it even easier for us audience full of geeks to buy him as a young, brave, somewhat cocky space pirate (sorry but that is kinda what he is).
While some people are skeptical about the idea of buying anyone as Han Solo outside of Harrison Ford, those are probably the same people who were skeptical when we found out we were getting new Star Wars movies, and look how well THAT has turned out.
So like with most geek things, I will reserve my geek judgement for when the Han Solo prequel drops, but I have all the faith in the world that Disney know exactly what they are doing. And good call not going with Chris Pratt. Great actor but I think some of us already have Pratt-uration. That is like saturation with too much Chris Pratt.
