Zombieland was a fun ride through the zombie apocalypse we had seen so many times before it, but it really added some “life” (get it, zombies) to the genre by injecting humor and a great cast. Since the movie dropped YEARS ago there have been sequel rumors abound. Hell, even Amazon ran a very short lived TV version of the movie for awhile, but it just did not find a momentum.
Which surprises me even more today is that Zombieland 2 was confirmed, again. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Zombieland and also still somehow have some love left for zombies, too. Thing is, is 7 years too long between films for this franchise to still work? Well, the two geniuses who wrote Deadpool (sans Reynolds) are the cats who made the original, and they conformed they are writing the sequel themselves. So if it stays true to the humor and tone of first movie and is written by two guys us geeks love, all seems well in the world, right?
Well, there is some fine print here.
“That is breaking news that we’re on Zombieland 2 right now,” the writers said on the show. “We’re sitting with Woody [Harrelson] tomorrow and are going to sort of walk him through some of the stuff we want to do. All the cast is pretty excited.” (By the way, “tomorrow” has probably already happened, as the show is not live.)
Hey, original cast and already in talks? Looks like this might actually happen this time. Nice!
