DC Comics is a major American comic book publisher known for producing iconic characters and teams such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and the Justice League.
The company was founded in 1934, with their first comic under the name being published in 1937. DC is currently a subsidiary of Warner Bros.
Many of their comics have been adapted into movies, TV shows, video games and merchandise. Currently, DC is working on creating the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) which is much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The project is currently being headed up by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and David Zaslav.
In February 2023, DC announced the first phase of the new DCU titled “Gods and Monsters.” Resetting after The Flash, the slate includes Swamp Thing, The Brave and the Bold and Creature Commandos.
DC Comics is considered one of the “big two” comic book publishers along with Marvel Comics.
